Exclusive Alto Adige

In today's Rohlík Exclusive edition, we have once again teamed up with the prestigious WINE & Degustation magazine to introduce you to the Italian wine region Alto Adige and its popular varieties Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio through the eyes of professionals. If they pique your interest, know that at Rohlík you can also taste the best wine in the Pinot Bianco category according to the grand test of WINE & Degustation 2024.

The family winery Baron Longo has been telling its story for over 150 years. Its vineyards span 20 hectares in the Italian wine region Trentino-Alto Adige around a 17th-century castle. Since 2015, it has been led by the youngest of the Longos, the visionary Baron Anton. He focuses on strict ecology and can boast biodynamic winery certification.

WINNING PINOT BIANCO FROM THE BARON

The Baron really pulled this off. In the W&D grand test, his "Schlossberg" won in the Pinot Bianco variety category. It has a golden color with an intense aroma combining notes of barrel aging, vanilla, and cream with notes of ripe stone fruit. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and fresh with notes of ripe mango, roasted pineapple, and citrus juice.

Would you like wine from one of the world's best winemakers, Hans Terzer? In the Alto Adige region, we also find the winery St. Michael Eppan, Italy's best winery in 1999. They divide their wines into three quality lines: Classici, Fallwind, and Sanct Valentin, which we present to you below.

The St. Valentin range from St. Michael Eppan features top bottles, which are born from the best grapes from the best locations. The wines are complex, elegant, very mineral, aromatic, and with a long-lasting finish.
