After Tuscany, Piedmont is the most significant region producing top-quality wines. It is divided into two sub-regions – Alba and Asti, whose names are reflected in the names of individual wines. Both white and red grape varieties are grown here. The wines themselves are produced here, but always 100% from one variety, never blended.

The best wines of Italy have been cultivated here since the time of the Etruscans. The vineyards are located on slopes with rocky soil and slate debris, where they receive plenty of light and are optimally drained. Varieties such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown here, from which the world-famous Chianti is produced.
